Exit 9 Wine & Liquor Warehouse, founded by Mark & Sharon O'Callaghan first opened its doors on November 1, 2001.

After working for 12 years in the alcohol industry on both the wholesale and supplier sides of the business, Mark was ready and eager to explore the retail side as well.

With a solid business plan, support from family and friends, and a 10,000 square foot storefront they were ready to go!
Our first holiday season in 2001 was a huge success. From that point, just a couple of months into the store's life, we knew we had something special!

Two years later, in 2003, started to expand, adding a 2,000 foot warehouse space. We expanded once again in 2005. A move of five storefronts brought us to an old TJ Maxx store that had recently closed.

This new store, a 30,000 square foot juggernaut was quite an undertaking, and many in the industry doubted its ability to support itself.

We weren't deterred and proved our doubters wrong.

Over the next five years, we continued to expand and grow our inventory.

In 2010, an opportunity that was too good to pass up presented itself. We packed our things, and moved across the street to the town of Halfmoon, and into a recently vacated Linen's-N-Things. The standalone, 37,500 square foot building became our new home.

A complete renovation followed, with brand new fixtures. We completed our cream store, featuring a new, temperature controlled, 4,000 bottle fine wine room and walk-in cooler for chilled wine.
Now, nearly 13 years after moving into this space, we still strive to grow and better serve our customers and our community.

In the years since we moved to our current location, we've added a classroom for wine and spirits seminars, a fully-functional wine bar for our customers to try some of our newest and favorite wines, and have grown our single barrel whiskey and tequila selection into one of the best in the entire Northeast.

We may have grown substantially as we head into our 23rd year, but we're still very much a family-owned and operated business at our core. Mark still oversees day-to-day operations and the store has employed numerous family members including their children, in-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as long-time employees who have become like family over the years.

Mark and Sharon, and Exit 9 Wine & Liquor Warehouse, have been ardent supporters of the local community. Mark sits on numerous area boards, and he and Sharon continue to support local organizations and give back to our community.

As we look to the future, we're excited to continue servicing our customers, all while providing the best selection of wines and spirits in the Capital Region!
